Heathpool Residence

Phillips/Pilkington Architects redeveloped a two storey 1960's red brick residence with a magnificent garden which provided a rural outlook in an inner suburban location. The design intent was to work as much as possible with the existing bones of the house but maximise the potential of the setting. The building owners seriously considered demolishing the original house and were persuaded of the merits of retaining the house which has the environmental benefit of minimisation of embodied energy. A new master bedroom suite was added to the house, and the main living room was redeveloped with the existing high level northern windows extended to the floor level enabling views across the garden to First Creek.
