MARINE DISCOVERY CENTRE, HENLEY BEACH, SA

The refurbishment of the Marine Discovery Centre consolidated a range of educational and interpretive displays and aquariums into a curated series of spaces. These included Sustainable Living, Catchment to Coast, Sea Cave, Kaurna Learning, virtual reality and a multi-purpose function room. 

The existing interiors were transformed into immersive, sensory spaces with a focus on marine sustainability and indigenous history and culture. Mural Paintings, textured carpets, sand and raw timber became the backdrop to Indigenous artefacts, with audio visual and special effects to engage the user and promote interaction with the space.

The external entry was enhanced with a generous entry ramp and timber ‘jetty’, supported by lighting and window graphics.
